Pastor Shi Weihan

Pastor Shi Weihan, now also known by his English name John Stone, was a house church leader in Beijing, a bookstore owner and a Christian publisher who printed nearly 1 million Bibles in China.

Pastor Shi was arrested on the morning of Nov. 28, 2007, and released without charge on Jan. 4, 2008. He was re–arrested two months later and on June 10, 2009, was sentenced to three years in prison on a charge of violating “the regulations of the state in printing illegal publications.”

He was also fined the equivalent of more than $20,000. During his time in prison, Pastor Shi and his family were greatly encouraged and strengthened by thousands of letters that they received through VOM’s Prisoner Alert letter writing and prayer support ministry.

Pastor Shi was released on Feb. 9, 2011, and now lives in the United States with his wife and children. He recently graduated from a Bible school in the Dallas, TX, area.
