Canon Mike Parker

Mike is International Director of MECO, a family of people who work in the Middle East. Together we aim to encourage local Christians, Churches and agencies in their witness to Christ, and to pass on the lessons our friends are learning under pressure.

Brought up mostly in Bristol, he got hooked on rugby and the Rovers. He started out in industry before travelling in the English Midlands with UCCF. His colleague became his best friend and wife, Helen. Training at Trinity, Bristol, gave time to explore both Scripture and Islam, and led him to work at Holy Trinity in Leicester’s city centre.

Church planting with Dennis Lennon in Edinburgh was followed by twelve years at St Thomas’s and three with Evangelical Alliance in Scotland. Moving abroad in 2006, Mike travelled from Cyprus, then led English–speaking congregations at Cairo Cathedral. They returned to the Edinburgh last summer to lead MECO.
