Speaker Profile: Rev. Jonathan Morton

Rev. Jonathan Morton

Rev. Jonathan Morton and his wife Lupita served with One Mission Society (OMS) in Mexico from 1995 to 2008. They began their ministry by starting the OMS Mexico social outreach program to the poor in Mexico City. This ministry aimed at meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Mexico’s poor, and through it churches were started, strengthened and Christ’s love demonstrated in a practical way.

In 1999, the Mortons’ main ministry focus became planting new churches. Through different evangelism methods, many were won to Christ, new churches established and local Mexican leaders trained. From 2001 to 2005 Jonathan directed OMS church planting in Mexico and served as the Field Director from 2006 to 2008.

Since August 2008 Jonathan has served as OMS Director of International Ministries, responsible for vision, ministries and staff in Latin America, The Caribbean and Europe. He and Lupita now reside in Indianapolis and have two sons, Daniel and Noah.

Prayer Update

Upcoming Events

Please pray for our special breakfast for ministers / youth pastors, congregational mission secretaries and mission agency reps on 4th May at which we will launch our programme leaflets for Convention 2013.

Rico Tice will speak and it would be helpful to get as good an attendance as possible so that our publicity material can go to as many churches as possible. The material will also be available at the Church Alive event that evening.

New Website

Please continue to pray for the on-going work on our website which should be concluded in the next few weeks. DV we will be using the events on the 4th and 5th May to highlight the new site and our prayer is that it will be greatly used to promote the work of the Convention to a wider audience. Also that it would be the means of increasing our prayer support by encouraging folk to sign on for the monthly up-dates.

Marketing Plan

Pray also for the marketing plan being produced for the group of Christian Conventions in N Ireland of which we are a part. This, currently, is being finalised and our prayer is that it will be used by our government and its agencies to promote the conventions across the UK, the RoI and beyond.

Earthquake in Taiwain

We have been following in prayer one of our speakers from last year, David Eastwood, after what has been a difficult return to work in Taiwan. This is an extract from a recent email indicating that things are not getting any easier.

-------

Just to let you know an earthquake hit today centered at Nantou to the south of Taichung but it was around a 5.. something in Taichung.

The Prayer center in Taiping had damage to one of the walls but the restaurant run by our Christian Neighbour, Su Lin, is a mess, the main wall at the front of the restaurant behind the kitchen has a huge crack from top to bottom (looking like the curtain in the temple) and there are even bigger cracks going up the stairs - apparently the upstairs is a mess too.

The downstairs walls are ones that she has had painted and they will need re-plastering and then repainting. Please pray for her as this is a huge blow to her having struggled to make the restaurant profitable these last few months. Whilst the damage is not structurally serious and the landlord should patch up the walls it is a big hassle.
