2016 is here! We pray God’s blessings will be upon us as we prepare to host our 80th Convention in August. Remember to put the dates in your new diary - Friday 19th through to Saturday 27th August.

Bob McAllister

Former missionary to the Democratic Republic of Congo Bob McAllister will speak at our opening Saturday (20th August). You may have watched Bob on a recent BBC NI documentary A Deadly Mission: Belfast to Congo.

His son David now works in the DRC as Tearfund’s country director and their partner in Lebanon has produced a short thank you film that shows their work with Syrian Refugee's thanks to the generous support provided by folks in Northern Ireland.

Bob was a house church leader in Beijing until he and his wife, Heidi, were imprisoned for ‘illegal evangelism’ in 1996.

We look forward to welcoming Bob to Bangor and hearing of the work China Aid is currently involved in.

There will be another opportunity to hear popular Worldwide 15 speaker, Mez McConnell from 20schemes, next month in Bangor with a workshop arranged, in partnership with Hamilton Road Baptist Church.

Prayer Update

Finance

Give thanks for an excellent year from a financial point of view. Our income increased by around 25% to nearly £200,000 and while our expenses were greater, we still had over £25,000 extra to pass on to mission causes this year.

Our event at the Waterfront Hall on the closing night was probably the biggest factor behind these improved figures but we are grateful to God for His blessing on this aspect of the Convention.

Please pray that it will be an encouragement to all who will be in receipt of these funds and that they will be guided in their use for the extension of God’s Kingdom.

Launch

Each year in May, we have the launch of our publicity materials for the Convention in August. In 2016, we are looking at doing a two part launch with events both in the morning and in the evening and would value prayer for us as we seek to finalise the details for each element.

Seminars

Please pray for a number of meetings which are planned for this month to discuss possible seminars for the 2016 programme to complement the morning and evening addresses. There are a number of possibilities but we want to choose those which will have greatest impact for mission and we desire wisdom for this.
