Speaker Bio - Mark Collier

Mark Collier

As a founding director of Friends in Action (FIA), Mark has served in West Africa with FIA periodically over the last 14 years.  Drilling in the name of Christ, Mark has been privileged to serve in the delivery of over 200 drilled water wells throughout Ivory Coast, Ghana and Burkina Faso. Currently living in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, with his wife Louise and three young children (Joshua, Rachel and Anna) Mark drills water wells in partnership with mission organisations who have a passion for taking the gospel to unreached and very needy people groups. Prior to missionary service Mark worked both with government as a mines inspector, and in the drilling industry.  He is an experienced geologist and drilling engineer.

His passion is to accelerate the process of taking the gospel to remote and unreached people groups in thirsty W. Africa through the giving of a cup of water in Christ’s name.

Funding the Family

Funding the Family Business Seminar

There is an exciting training event organised by Stewardship in Belfast on the 9th March 2013. Funding the Family Business is a one-day seminar hosted by Belfast Bible College, led by Myles Wilson, specifically for those who raise personal support for Christian mission. The attached flyer gives more detail on the content.

The cost of the seminar is normally £50 which includes a light lunch and a copy of the book to take away, however for Stewardship Account holders or members of Global Connections, the cost is reduced to only £35 per place, with a further discount available for couples.

For more information on Funding the Family Business, visit http://www.fundingthefamilybusiness.org or go straight to our online shop to make a booking. To take advantage of the reduced price, select the discounted option. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the training before making a booking, please contact Fiona Mearns at Stewardship on 020 8418 8880 or at education@stewardship.org.uk

Prayer Requests

2013 Bible Readings

Give thanks that we have finalised our speaker for the Bible Readings for 2013. Bishop Ken Clarke, who was already coming to the Convention speak on his work for SAMS has kindly agreed to re-arrange his schedule to accommodate us. We are delighted with this outcome as Ken took the readings several years ago and was very well received.

Spring Conference

Continue to remember our one day Spring Conference – CHURCH ALIVE -  arranged in conjunction with Open Doors and Christianity Explored. We are circulating flyers and posters to churches and advertising through websites etc. Please pray that this will be effective and also for Rico Tice and the other speakers that they will have the right message for the event. It takes place in Bangor ( Hamilton Road ) on Saturday 4th May and is repeated in Ballymena ( High Kirk ) on Sunday 5th.

Advertising

In the next few months the Convention will be advertised in a number of UK Christian periodicals and publications. Please pray that this will be an effective way of making the event known to a wider audience.

Youth Work

Please pray for ongoing discussions with youth pastors as we seek to finalise a couple of new initiatives for young people as part of our 2013 programme. We are keen to make the next generation aware of the Convention and to get them involved from an early age.

Safe Arrival

Finally, give thanks for the safe arrival of Mia Joy, the latest addition to the Sanlon family. Jonathan is a very hard working member of our committee and we congratulate him and Susan on their new daughter.
