MARCH 2020Signs of spring are on the way as daffodils come through and the daylight stretches that bit more each day. Praise God for His faithfulness and the wonder of His Creation!
LAUNCH SPEAKER ANNOUNCEDRev David Meredith, Mission Director for the Free Church of Scotland will be the guest speaker for our launch events in May. Before taking up the post in 2015, David ministered at Smithton Free Church in Inverness. He has a keen interest in overseas mission and fostering links with projects in Africa, as well as serving as chairman of Affinity – a network of Gospel-minded churches across the UK.
EZECHIEL & NICOLA HATUNGIMANATravelling all the way from Burundi to Bangor this summer are Ezechiel and Nicola Hatungimana. In 2014 they founded YADA, a local organisation with a vision to see communities transformed through the power of God’s love. Ezechiel was born and raised in Burundi, East Africa whilst Nicola hails from our very own Northern Ireland shores.
DONATIONS WELCOMEDid you know you can donate to the work of mission agencies all year round? From BACS to standing orders, PayPal to good old-fashioned cheques, we have many ways to help you support God’s work financially. Thank you in advance for your faithful giving.
We mentioned last month about the breakfasts in Bangor and Belfast for ministers and pastors. The invitations for these have now gone out and positive responses are coming in. Please pray that numbers will continue to rise, particularly for the Belfast event. Please pray also for two other aspects of the Publicity Launch – the separate event for students and other young people being arranged by Jason, and a reception for mission agencies to be held prior to the Open Meeting on the 27th May. Details for each are being worked through at this time and we need wisdom to know God’s will for these meetings.
Our expanded group of trustees met for the first time on 6th March so please pray that members have quickly understood their remit and will make a significant contribution to the development of the Convention in years to come.
Discussions are on-going with the local council about possible grant support for the convention. The council has given generous assistance to off-set expenses in the past, so please pray that a way can be found to allow this to continue.
We were saddened to hear of the tragic death of Miss Joan McAlister who died in a car crash in County Cavan. Joan was involved with the Irish Evangelisic Band which distributes Christian literature throughout Ireland, co-ordinates home-to-home evangelism and runs bookshops in Enniskillen and Cavan. Joan was a regular supporter of Worldwide often taking a stand in the Global Village. Our thoughts and prayers are with Joan’s family and colleagues at this difficult time.
