Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention

Prayer

  1. Please pray for our ongoing discussions about the possibility of a one-day Bangor Worldwide Spring Conference in early May next year. This will be a new venture for us and we would use the event to launch our publicity for the main Convention in August. We need guidance regarding the programme for the day, for the content of the evening meeting and a number of other matters such as publicity.

  2. Give thanks for the significant amount of money which comes through the Convention each year for mission. Pray for the Treasurer and the Finance Committee as they finalise our accounts for the year and that they will be wise in the preparation of a budget for next year.

  3. We have just completed filming for another in our website series on people whose lives have been changed by the Convention. Please pray that our continuing search for others for whom this is true, will be successful and that the series will be an inspiration to all.

  4. Please remember our Secretary, Lesley, who, with her husband Ian and a team from her church, are travelling out to Moldova on the 10th November for a week of mission.

  5. Finally, remember in prayer our work with the other main Christian Conventions in NI and specifically our current task of producing a Marketing Strategy which we would aim to submit to government for support.

So what's in store for 2013?

We did send this out in our last mailing, but for those new to our mailings, 2013 is going to be an exiting year!

The dates for 2013 have been finalised and the Convention will run from Friday 23rd to Saturday 31st August in our usual venue of Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church in Bangor.

Our Bible Readings will be led by Darrell Johnson from Vancouver Canada and he comes strongly recommended for his teaching ability. An author, he is a former member of staff at Regent College.

Bishop Ken Clarke, a regular with us will be making a return and will talk to us about his new work with SAMS.

For the first time we will have a Palestinian Christian, Munther Isaac, from Bethlehem Bible College coming to speak as we focus on the Middle East.

We also have a range of other speakers already confirmed and these include Peter and Rachel Calvert (France Mission – St. Etienne), Jonathan Morton (OMS), and Laura Sanlon (Spain). Biblica will be sharing about their Bible translation work.

A focus on sport is planned for one of the evenings and we are pleased to have Graham Daniels (Christians in Sport) taking part in this.

More details on these speakers and others who will be taking part will become available over the next few months.
