Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention

Video/Audio Recordings

A quick reminder, you can get all the recordings of the morning and evening sessions on our website - www.worldwidemission.org/media/.

With the exception of a few, due to the sensitive nature of their content, you'll be able to listen back to the morning bible readings with John Woodside, as well as our fantastic closing night with the "Vicar of Baghdad".

As mentioned in our last mailing, an extra string to our bow over the last couple of years, has been video recording each of the talks carried out over the Worldwide week!

This year, we're pleased to make available a DVD of the weeks' Bible readings. For the princely sum of £5, you can watch John Woodside deliver the 2012 Bible readings.

To order, simply send a wee email to jonathan@worldwidemission.org and we'll arrange payment and delivery.

In addition, we also have a video recording of the Bishop of Baghdad. Just email the address above! This will also cost £5.

So what's in store for 2013?

The dates for 2013 have been finalised and the Convention will run from Friday 23rd to Saturday 31st August in our usual venue of Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church in Bangor.

Our Bible Readings will be led by Darrell Johnson from Vancouver Canada and he comes strongly recommended for his teaching ability. An author, he is a former member of staff at Regent College.

Twenty years on from the massacre in his church, Bishop Frank Retief from South Africa will be making a return visit to the Convention and another Bishop, Ken Clarke, a regular with us will be talking about his new work with SAMS.

For the first time we will have a Palestinian Christian, Munther Isaac, from Bethlehem Bible College coming to speak as we focus on the Middle East.

We also have a range of other speakers already confirmed and these include Peter and Rachel Calvert (France Mission – St. Etienne), Jonathan Morton (OMS), and Laura Sanlon (Spain). Biblica will be sharing about their Bible translation work.

A focus on sport is planned for one of the evenings and we are pleased to have Graham Daniels (Christians in Sport) taking part in this.

More details on these speakers and others who will be taking part will become available over the next few months.

Prayer

  1. Give thanks for the ongoing interest in the talks from this years Convention through the website and requests for DVDs. Please pray that there will also be a continuing impact on the lives of Christians as they respond to the challenges of these addresses.

  2. Convention 2012 sadly brought an end to the heroic service ( about 30 years between them ! ) of our two technical gurus Alistair White and Andi Topping. They have been responsible for not only manning the sound and IT desks during the convention week itself but also for ensuring that we are kept abreast of all the innovations that there have been in recent years in electronic communication ( website etc ). We owe them a huge debt and are grateful to them for offering to make themselves available to give advice and for consultation on an ongoing basis. On the positive side we are delighted to announce that Jonathan Sanlon ( UFM ) has agreed to head up a team to take over these tasks. Please pray for Jonathan in his new role and that we will be led to the right people as we create this team and seek to build on the good work of Al and Andi.

  3. Please pray specifically about decisions on the website as we seek tenders over the next few weeks for work which we feel is necessary to keep fit for purpose.

  4. Continue to pray for the committee as we seek to finalise the main elements of the programme for 2013 in the coming weeks and that we will be directed by God in all our decisions in this vital area.

  5. Finally, give thanks for the growth in the numbers receiving our prayer updates. This is particularly encouraging. Long may it continue !!
