October 2015

What a lovely spell of autumn weather we are enjoying. Traditionally this is a time for Harvest thanksgiving services in our churches. Worldwide has much to be thankful for, in all the seeds of mission that were sown in the summer. Let’s look back on some of the highlights:

OMF Anniversary

OMF Anniversary

OMF celebrate their 150th anniversary this year. At our closing event in the Waterfront Hall we sang a new version of OMF’s official hymn, ’Facing a task unfinished’ which was recently arranged by Jonathan Rea of the New Irish Choir & Orchestra. This version was commissioned by OMF to celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2015. An additional chorus has been added by Keith & Kristyn Getty, Fionan de Barra and Ed Cash. Arrangement by Jonathan Rea.

Points for Prayer

Review of 2015

Give thanks for a very positive review meeting held recently by the committee to look back at Worldwide 2015. All present were encouraged by the response at the various events  and by the many people who had taken the time to write to comment favourably on the event.

Social Media

Give thanks in particular for the very impressive statistics on Social media and Website traffic associated with Convention 2015. Our Website audience increased by almost 50% and our Facebook reach was 31,000 people over the week. We now have nearly 2,000 photos on Flickr and on Sunday 30th August, after the Waterfront event, we had over 10,000 views. We host our videos of the Convention talks on Vimeo and during this year’s event we had visits from 75 countries. Since the service began in February 2010 we have had contact from 140 countries and over 15,000 visitors have played the videos. It is very encouraging to know that the Convention truly is ‘worldwide’ and that we are providing teaching and support for believers around the globe, some of whom may not have ready access to such materials otherwise.

Mission Agencies

Please pray for a meeting to be held on 14th October with representatives of the many Mission Agencies which took stalls at the Global Village this year. This annual meeting provides an opportunity to share experiences and to make suggestions for future years. Pray that our time together will be inspired by the Holy Spirit and that there will be good engagement as we learn from one another.

Worldwide 16

Our plans for the main meetings are well advanced. Please pray that there will be positive responses to the invitations which are being issued to prospective speakers this month, and also that we will know God’s mind for the outstanding aspects of the programme which have yet to be finalised.
