Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention

Well the 2011 Convention has been and gone! We hope you enjoyed the Convention week and that you, like oursrselves are already looking forward to our 76th year in 2012!

Nelun Fernando

Ajith Fernando

This year we were fortunate to have Ajith Fernando with us. During the convention Ajith's wife, Nelun was diagnosed with cancer.

We want to give thanks to God that treatment has gone well so far and encourage you to pray for a full recovery and ongoing treatment.

Convention Committee planning for 2012

Bangor Worldwide doesn't just stop at the end of August! No no - we continue to plan 2 years in advance of every convention.

Please pray for our committee as they seek to finalise the programme for 2012 and give thanks for the speakers who have already committed to come along.

Sarah Chan (CWI)

Sarah Chan (CWI)

We're glad to introduce our first confirmed speaker for 2012.

Sarah Chan was Christian Witness To Israel (CWI)’s first Chinese missionary to Jewish people. She was born in Hong Kong of Chinese parents and was converted at the start of her teenage years.

Early in her Christian life she felt the challenge to take the Gospel to the Jewish people.  Through a sermon on Acts 1:8 the Lord challenged Sarah to take the gospel to the people who first gave us the Good News of Jesus.

Sarah joined the staff of CWI in 1982 and has been sharing the gospel among the Jewish community in North West London ever since.

Sarah graduated from both London School of Theology in the UK and Westminster Theological Seminary in the USA.

Since 1993 Sarah has been Christian Witness to Israel’s Chinese coordinator.

Her book “Jewish Awareness – a Challenge to Chinese Churches” was published by China Alliance Press in 1995.

All Change - a new secretary!

We've been blessed over the last few years (too many to count!) for the guidance, expertise and enthusiasm of Eddie Currie! Two years ago, Eddie stepped down as Convention Secretary and the search began in earnest for a successor ... which we've now found!

Please welcome and pray for Lesley Stewart of Kings Fellowship Church, Bangor.

Born and bred in Bangor, and a graduate of QUB, Lesley has a wealth of experience in administration through the public, private and charitable sectors.

She currently works part-time for Kings Fellowship as administrator and Overseas Mission Secretary.

Married to Iain, a local architect and church elder, they have 3 grown up children and as a family spent 2 years in London on a short term church planting team. Lesley herself has gone on short term mission trips to Europe and the Far East, supporting missionaries sent out from Kings.

Her interest in mission has grown stronger over the years and she has happy memories of attending Bangor Worldwide in her teenage years.

Please join the committee in welcoming Lesley as our new secretary and pray for her as she settles into her new role
