The Countdown Begins

With one week to go, we thought we'd highlight some of the events running over the course of the convention week.

Event Prayer Meetings Our morning prayer meetings are a fundamental element in the convention programme. We will be taking time on Monday to pray for the situation in Egypt and on Tuesday for the on-going peace talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Other areas in the world will be covered throughout the rest of the week.

Event One Big Family On Wednesday afternoon Prospects NI will be providing an open opportunity for all to share in their work of reaching out to those with learning disability. It will take the form of a time of worship in which all take part and will give good insight into the joys and challenges of working with this part of our society.

Student's Event Students' Seminar For the first time Worldwide will be providing a seminar for students and those about to begin third level education. It will have a relaxed atmosphere and provide plenty of opportunity for questions of an expert panel. There will be food to follow as an added incentive !!

Event Sunday Evening Meeting Our main speaker, David Robertson, is well known for his book countering the arguments of atheist Richard Dawkins. However, he is also a parish minister in Dundee ( Robert Murray McCheyne’s former church ) and  is deeply concerned about the spiritual decline in his native Scotland. There are lessons to be learned by Christians here if we are to avoid a similar decline and this is a rare opportunity to find out what these might be. We will also be having a short update from a missionary recently asked to leave a closed country.

Children's Event God's Great Big World This event for children ( P4 to P7 ) has become increasingly popular and last year was over subscribed. It is designed to give kids an understanding about what being a missionary is all about and is interactive with full “ audience participation “. For the first time you can register online to save having to do so on the morning itself.

Event Water Drilling Rig Friends in Action who do development aid work in Africa are bringing their new drilling rig to the convention before it is transported out to Burkina Faso to begin work. Costing many hundreds of thousands of pounds, it will be erected in the church car park on Tuesday 27 th and provide the unique opportunity to see up close, one of these impressive pieces of equipment.
