December 2018

Welcome to the December mailer. As we enter the season of Advent, we wait and reflect remembering the words of the prophet Isaiah - The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned (Isaiah 9:2).

Dr Joshua Bogunjoko from SIM shares this thoughts on his first visit to Bangor Worldwide - “It’s been an amazing experience - what was so striking was how much prayer was central to the Convention - the opening night was really special.” Watch his interview in full on the link.

Prayer Points

Finance

Please pray for our treasurer Cecil McWilliams and his assistant Norman Campbell. At this time they are preparing the end of year accounts for a Finance Committee meeting on the 6th of this month and this is a major undertaking. Last year £ 180,000 was raised for mission by the Convention and 148 mission agencies benefitted as a result. Pray that the Committee will be guided as they consider how the money can be used to greatest effect in the extension of God’s kingdom around the world.

Convention Committee

The committee meets on the 11th December and we would ask for prayer for the group as it seeks to finalise detailed aspects of the programme for the Convention in 2019. Seminars and the content of some of the evening meetings have yet to be tied down so please pray that we will be guided toward the right decisions. Pray also for inspiration as we review our publicity programme.

Outreach

Continue to pray for committee members Jason and Lorraine, as they work to extend knowledge and information about the Convention among our local churches. Give thanks for the progress which has been made to date and pray that they will get further encouragements as new fellowships come on board.
