Thank you for praying for our meeting on the 20th. We spent some time looking at the pattern of giving to the Convention over the years and while we were encouraged by the increase in giving in 2018 over 2017, the pattern has been downward over the past 25 years. We thought about the reasons for this and how we might address the trend. Please pray for us as we look at ways to increase giving to the Convention. One worrying statistic which we uncovered was that nearly a third of our total income, which last year was c. £ 200 k, came from just seven individuals. It is obviously in the best interests of the Convention to broaden this base, so please pray for us as we seek to do this.
Wednesday 22nd May has been chosen as the date for our Launch this year, and it is planned to be in two parts – a Breakfast for clergy and other full-time ministry staff in a local hotel, and an open meeting in the evening in Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church. Rev. Malcolm Duncan has kindly agreed to speak at both events and there will be a reception for mission agency representatives prior to the evening meeting. Please pray that there will be a good response to the invitations which will be going out shortly, and that the day will be used by God to increase involvement in the extension of His kingdom around the world.
We plan to have satellite events in Dollingstown and Magherafelt again this year. Please pray for the planning of these and also for initial discussions which will take place in the near future about a possible third event for 2020. Pray that right from this early stage there will be good communication between the parties and that God would give guidance in the discussions and His blessing to any decisions which might be made.
