Not only has Bangor Worldwide been running at the end of August every year since 1937, but a Worldwide Prayer meeting has been running every Monday over those 84 years with the exception of the last year due to the pandemic. The vision remains the same – to challenge and inspire each of us to PRAY, GIVE, GO.
Over the years we have developed links with many of the local Churches, including providing speakers for church services. In addition to seminars, workshops, prayer gatherings, kids, youth and young adults’ events, we have developed, as part of the programme, special events relevant to Ministers and additional evenings in three locations in Northern Ireland and one in the Republic of Ireland.
As a relatively small team, we believe the time has come to strengthen those relationships further and our vision is to encourage churches to become more directly associated with the work of the Convention by becoming a ‘Supporter Church’. A ‘Supporter Church’ is basically a church which would simply engage with us at a deeper level, yes, promoting Bangor Worldwide to their congregation but more than that, encouraging people in your congregation to engage with mission at whatever level they feel able to.
Our role would include providing churches with promotional materials, prayer points and information on missions. We appreciate that church leaders carry a very heavy workload and so we envisage having a contact person identified by churches who would be our main point of contact and through whom we could channel this resource. ‘Supporter Churches’ would be listed in our brochure which is produced for each year’s Convention. They would also receive tickets for our Opening event this year at a discounted cost.
