Lesley & Ian Stewart visit the McKnight Family in Papua New Guinea

Field Trip

A visit to Papua New Guinea

At the end of September my husband and I went to see Paul and Lesley McKnight, members of our church in Bangor who are support workers with New Tribes Mission serving on the Mission base in Lapilo, near Goroka in the Central Highlands of PNG.

A poignant month for UFM

Remembrance Day,11th November, is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I in 1918. November is also a very poignant month for UFM as a mission.

Media Archive

We do it every month, but we like to continue to remind of the vast material we have available in our archive. We've been blessed to have many fantastic visiting speakers over the years and we've been fortunate to be able to record these recently.

Whilst we do our best to make all talks available, we're not able to publish some of our speakers due to the sensitive nature of their work.

Donations

A reminder too that one of the objectives of the Convention is to challenge Christians to give of their resources to help in the work of Mission both at home and overseas.

Since 1937, when our work began, almost £4.5 million has been channelled through the Convention for missionary work.

If you're still considering giving through the Convention, remember you can give all year round via our website!

Points for Prayer

Programme for 2015

Give thanks for our committee meeting last month when we made good progress on the programme for 2015 (and beyond ! ). We are awaiting some responses from potential speakers, so please pray that these will come through quickly and be positive. Pray also that we will make wise decisions about which seminars to provide next year  and for the Youth Pastors who are involved in preparing our Youth programme.

Waterfront Hall Event

As already announced, we have decided to go to the Waterfront Hall for our final night in 2015. This is a major undertaking for us so please pray that we will be guided through the many details that have to be finalised and in particular for Ivan Millen who has volunteered to coordinate our plans and preparations. Trying to achieve a “ sell-out ” as on our last visit in 2011, is a significant challenge so we need specific prayer for guidance regarding publicity for this event.

Field Trips

Give thanks that our Secretary, Lesley Stewart, and her husband Ian had a  very successful visit to Papua New Guinea  to see first hand the work of a missionary family – the McKnights – from their church.

Please pray for Jonathan Sanlon, another member of our Committee, who goes out to West Papua on the 26th of this month to do some filming among the Hupla people for UFM as they receive the whole bible for the first time in their own language. Remember his preparations and Susan and the family when he is away.
