Items for Prayer (Worldwide)

Please pray for

  • The land of Afghanistan, especially after the recent death of aid worker Gayle Williams, working with Serve Afghanistan
  • Christian believers and workers in the Indian state of Orissa, who are undergoing ongoing violence and persecution at this time
  • India’s Supreme Court continues to delay considering the request of Christian and Muslim Dalits to be granted Scheduled Caste status, which would help them to get education and employment.
  • Myanmar (Burma). After all the reports about the brutal suppression of protests and the devastation caused by the cyclone, Christian Aid Mission tells of many Buddhist monks and nuns turning to Christ. Pray for this country and its suffering people.
  • Those facing a hunger gap in Burkina Faso. Sporadic rainfall and warm temperatures are withering staple cereal crops. People have started growing vegetables in allotments to cope with failed harvests and have also rioted about the high price of living. Pray for a peaceful and just resolution for all.
  • ‘The World according to Jesus’ - a series of radio broadcasts in Poland based on the Sermon on the Mount, now available also via YouTube. Pray that listeners will experience the Bible connecting with their everyday experience.
  • ‘About 60% of new believers in the church in Iran are women. We are committed to helping these women to better understand who they are in Christ and what they can achieve e.g. training a whole new generation of Iranian Christian children in the way of the Lord’ (ELAM)
  • SAT-7, which was represented at WW 2008, broadcasts Christian television across the Middle East and North Africa. It now broadcasts programmes 24/7 which are watched regularly by at least 10 million people in more than 20 countries across the region. Pray for the positive impact of their channels.
