Paul & Lesley McKnight
Paul & Lesley have been serving with New Tribes Mission in Papua New Guinea since 2003. Paul teaches at the NTM mission school which also educates students from other evangelical mission organisations. Lesley works as a physiotherapist in the NTM medical clinic. They have three children, Callum (10), Amy (8) and Lydia (4).
Paul & Lesley met whilst studying at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown and were both involved with the Christian Union. Paul grew up in Limavady. Lesley grew up in Donaghadee.
Lesley was challenged as a youth about oversees mission and chose a physiotherapy degree with the mission field in mind. Paul was challenged about mission school teaching during his P.G.C.E year in Canterbury. From 1997 until 2003 Lesley worked as a physiotherapist in Edinburgh and the Ulster Hospital, whilst Paul taught in Carrickfergus and Donaghadee High. In 1999 they had the opportunity to be part of a short term team to the Philippines led by NTM where they caught the vision for reaching remote people groups with the Gospel and the team effort required for this.
In 2001 they were married and became members of Kings Church, Bangor. In 2002 they heard of a need at a mission support centre in the highlands of PNG that needed a PE teacher and a physiotherapist. 13 years and 3 children later they are still serving in PNG. Currently back in N.I on home assignment after a 4 year term they are excited to share about what God is doing amongst remote people groups and challenge the church about the many needs in mission support work.
