Joshua Bogunjoko

Dr. Joshua Bogunjoko was born in Nigeria. He attended an SIM established mission school where he came to faith in Christ.  He obtained a Bachelor of Medical Sciences in Pharmacology from the University of Port Harcourt and MBBS in Medicine and Surgery from the same University.

He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and consultant in Family Medicine. He has a Master of Arts in Leadership and Management (Organizational Leadership) from Briercrest Biblical Seminary in Saskatchewan, Canada; as well as a Certificate in French for Non–French Speakers from Laval University in Quebec, Canada. He was a leader in the evangelical student movement, the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students throughout his University days and was the National President of the Nigeria Christian Corpers Fellowship during his service year. He felt the Lord’s call to missions in the University and committed his heart to serve the Lord cross–culturally.

Joshua married Dr. Joanna Bogunjoko in November 1993. After his residency at Evangel Jos (now Bingham University Teaching Hospital), they began their ministry as medical missionaries with EMS of ECWA and SIM at SIM Hospital, Galmi, in Niger Republic in 1995.

After further studies in Canada, they returned to Galmi. Joshua took on leadership as Chief Medical Officer and then as Director of the hospital. In 2006 he was appointed SIM Deputy International Director for Europe and West Africa. In June 2013 he became the first non–westerner to lead SIM as its International Director.

Joshua and Joanna are blessed with two children, Jochebed and Joel.
