Asif Mall

Representing: Release International

Asif Mall works with a UK based Christian organization, which serves persecuted Christians around the world. His role involves oversight of work in a number of countries and also lobbying on behalf of these persecuted Christians in the EU, UN and with governments in the Global North. Asif has a particular focus on a number of countries in North Africa, South & SE Asia.

Asif was born to a Christian family in Pakistan and speaks Urdu, Hindi and English in addition to his mother tongue of Punjabi. Growing up in Pakistan, Asif took the opportunity to study Islam from an Islamic viewpoint as well as observing the suffering of religious minorities, especially Christians, at the hands of extremist Islam; he had first–hand experience of watching this escalate during the military dictatorship of General Zia–ul– Haq, whose legacy of Islamisation continues to this day.

Asif studied English Literature, Journalism and the Persian Language for his BA degree, then went on to study English Literature at the MA level at Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan. In mid–ninties he came went to the UK to study for a BA (Hons) in Theology and Ministry. Asif became involved with helping UK churches in supporting the persecuted church around the world; something that continues to date.
