Bill McAllister

Representing: Congo Intitiative, UK CEO

Dr Bill McAllister, the eldest son of Bob and Alma McAllister, was born in the Belgian Congo in 1952 and left when he was 18. He did his undergraduate studies in Theology and Social Anthropology at the Queens University of Belfast and earned a doctoral degree at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. 

Returning to Congo in 1982 Bill lectured in a theology seminary. In 1988 he became the Africa Director for Compassion Canada and then joined Christian Blind Mission (CBM) in 1994. He was asked to return to the UK in 1995 to establish CBM UK. Starting from scratch CBM UK was supporting over 50 medical and rehabilitation projects globally by 2012. Returning to Ireland, Bill is CEO for the UK branch of an international mission engaged in Christian leadership training in Congo called ‘Congo Initiative’. 

His wife Norma is a Care Home Manager and their eldest daughter Kerry lives in Dubai, while son Keith, daughter Cheryl and son Adrian live in Cambridge, England.  (164 words)
