Ida grew up in the Clogher Valley in Co Tyrone. At the age of 19 she became a Christian in Aughentaine Presbyterian church. She went on to become a teacher in Omagh. After a number of years she felt God calling her to leave teaching to serve Him, with a call specifically to Lapland.
At Faith Mission Bible College she heard about CEF and was challenged to reach children in the far north with the Gospel. This northern part of the Scandinavian countries is widely known as Lapland, although Norway doesn't use that term except for tourism. It was to this northern part of Norway that God led her. Here there was no CEF work, so it was very much a pioneer work. The work has mainly been training teachers, week long children's missions over a very wide scattered area, Good News Clubs, Junior youth challenge, camps, and literature.
For a number of years there was also the opportunity to travel to the Kola peninsula in Russia training Sunday School teachers and children's workers. People in this northern part of Russia are hungry for the Word of God.
They desperately need fulltime workers for this northern part of Scandinavia.
