Simon Guillebaud

Representing: Burundi

Simon was born in Sussex and lived in Algeria and France while he was growing up.

After a job in marketing, Simon was called to go to Burundi in 1998, working with Scripture Union. He then founded Great Lakes Outreach which works for the spiritual and physical development of the people of Burundi and partners with local Christian organisations to share God’s message and to fund sustainable projects that transform lives.  Simon is married to Lizzie and, outside of his passion for Burundi, he is also a keen sportsman.

In his book ‘For What It’s Worth’ Simon asks ‘What’s it worth to follow Jesus? How far is too far when He stretched out His arms on the cross and went that far? Do you want the adventure of living, or would you prefer the safety of existing? Aren’t you itching for a deeper and more raw expression of following Jesus? Aren’t we meant to be dangerous people, wide–eyed radicals, dreamers of the day? What does radical living look like in the 21st century? Or shall I just resign myself to a safe, sanitised, respectable middle–class Christianity?’
